Prada writers competition

April 29th, 2013

Milan-based luxury brand Prada has teamed up with Italian publisher Giangiacomo Feltrinelli Editore to discover new literary talent and has launched an international literary competition.

Prada says that the competition was motivated by their ‘curiosity to explore innovative languages by means of forms of expression leading to the written word’. The theme for the competition was inspired by ‘the metaphor of prescription glasses – as a tool through which to see and investigate new creative worlds, and enhance the individual interpretation of reality.’

Budding writers aged 18 years and older are invited to submit an essay (between 4 000 and 8 000 words long) interpreting the subject: ‘What are the realities that our eyes give back to us? And how are these realities filtered through lenses?’,writers are encouraged to compose the essay in their native language. The winner can look forward to the prize of €5 000 (£ 4282) and the opportunity to have your essay published as a digital book available to read via the Prada website.

Prada Writers competition – Closing date is June 18th.
