Georgia Hardinge Debuts Collection at River Island

April 23rd, 2013

River Island has partnered with London-based designer Georgia Hardinge on a collection for spring/summer 2013. The collaboration is part of the high street store’s successful Design Forum – an initiative which gives emerging designers a chance to deliver a collection to a much wider audience.

Graduating from the Parsons Paris School of Art and Design in 2008, Georgia launched her first collection during London Fashion Week in 2009. Since then, her label has become a fashion editor’s favourite, and the designer has taken part in a series of collaborations including Victoria’s Secret and Lancome. She has since accumulated celebrities fans, including Beyonce, Lady Gaga, Nicole Sherzinger and Florence Welch, who love the 28-year-old  work known for flattering graphic prints and architectural cut.

The collection, which was inspired by Swiss surrealist sculptor H. R. Giger, is awash with pretty form-fitting dresses in a chic, neutral palette of grey, cream and white. “I find that his paintings and sets create such beautiful depth and movement and I wanted to capture these elements and echo them in the print,” she said. “I have a fascination with sculpture and love to transfer this 3D way of working into clothing – the main showpiece which is shown in the film was sculpted to flatter and mould around the female silhouette.”

Prices points the 14-piece collection are between £30 and £100 ‘ It is great to be a part of something so new and I definitely think this is the way forward for the high street, making a luxury product become accessible to all’. says Hardinge

The collection is available online and in River Island stores now. Click here to to shop the collection!
